I have succeeded in having my PC serial port read the data apparently without need for any voltage conversion (the problem is not 5 to 12 volts - RS232 will work on anything above 3V - the problem is the 0 volts - RS232 officially requires this to be below negative 3. Here's the file for undocumented features. In return, if you figure out anything about the syntax of what the serial port is saying, please post it/mail is ASAP. Thanks More Info on the IPS-760. Hidden OR Non-documented features do exist, don't they!!! First:There is a Supplement-1 for the Sony Service Manual. In it it describes the SERVICE mode. (1) Turn on the POWER switch, and make sure that the POS mode screen is displayed. ("POS" is displayed int he upper left of screen.) (2) Press the "MENU" + F4 keys. (Keep pressing both keys simultaneously.) Then, the SERVICE mode will become active. (3) The screen to confirm ther ROM version, RAM read/write operation and ROM checksum is displayed. (4) Press ENTER key and the receiver monitor screen is displayed.(If F1 key is pressed here, the screen is returned to normal mode.) There is much more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Instead of the service mode. From normal mode press MENU. Then press MENU + DISPLAY and the GRID LOCATOR screen is displayed showing YOUR present GRID SQUARE position. Not documented!!! From normal mode press MENU. Then press MENU + F2 and the EXTERNAL OUTPUT menu is displayed. NONE Position Output Video Output Again NOT documented!!!!! Select the desired with the up/down arrow keys. Press ENTER. From normal mode press MENU. Then press MENU + F1 and the ENTERNAL I/O screen is displayed. Again not documented!!! EXTERNAL I/O 9600 bps Memory Input Memory Output Card 1 Input Card 1 Output Card 2 Input Card 2 Output Display Output Note the sub-menu for baud rate: 1200 2400 4800 9600 19200 38400 Select the desired and press ENTER. Do any of these menu selections work???? I have not yet hoohed up to the data port. I am looking for the proper 10 pin connector. Is there any interest in this stuff????????????
